Neben dem Berichten über Gewalttaten gegen Demonstranten gibt es mittlerweile auch positive Berichte aus Burma. Global Voices hat eine Menge davon übersetzt. So wird berichtet, in Mandalay (der zweitgrößten Stadt des Landes) hätten Soldaten sich zurückgezogen:

27th Sept DVB news: Battalion #33 stands down in Mandalay.

Soldiers from #33 Battalion knelt down and requested the protesting monks to stop the protest.

Monks from Mandalay monasteries including those from “ThaTaNa” monk college marched for protest and were blocked at 42nd street by soldiers of #33 battalion.

Many of the monks replied, “You may shoot but we will still march”, and carried on with their marches.

The soldiers knelt down, shed tears and finally they stepped down to let the monks go, reported the witnesses from Mandalay.

Yangon Thu hat einen Text übersetzt, in dem von Kämpfen zwischen dem oben genannten 33. Bataillon und anderen Armeeteilen die Rede ist:

1) That soldiers between Light Battalion 33 (see post below) and 99 are fighting.
2) A few of the airplanes form the Burmese Air Force airport Meithteelar is said to have left.
3) The Battalions from Middle Burma and South East Burma are said to have left for Yangon. Rumors are rampant that there is trouble within the Army itself – generals are said to be fighting.
4) 3 Army trucks and 2 Riot Police trucks are heading to Hle Dan, Yangon.
5) 30 Soldiers in camouflage are waiting in State High Scool 3 and 4 of Tar Mway in Yangon (there is another story on this which I will post)
6) Several Army trucks are roaming the city and there are said to be several barb wire fences placed around Kyaut Ta Htar police post, adjacent to Trader’s Hotel. There are said to be even more soldiers and riot police in the station, compared to yesterday. More soldiers and riot police have also been placed at Sule Pagoda.

Ist das die Wende? Ich hoffe, dass es auf keinen Fall zum Bürgerkrieg kommt. Das ist das letzte, was man dort gebrauchen kann!

Allerdings berichten Ko-htike und Nyein Chan Yar übereinstimmend, dass die Regierung vielerorts die Internetverbindungen gekappt hat.

Trotzdem scheinen weiterhin Nachrichten aus dem Norden durchzukommen. Es scheint möglich, dass das Regime zumindest in Teilen von Mandalay die Kontrolle verliert oder bereits verloren hat.
